The Hills – Not So Real After All?
The Hills: Photo Credit: WENNHas MTV been scamming The Hills viewers for 3 seasons?
Rumors that the series is a fake are flying through cyberspace faster than Britney's bald pictures. And fans are ticked.
It all started when PerezHilton.com suggested that the whole thing was a sham. The website featured two photos of Lauren, which were aired on the show as being mere minutes apart, but the Teen Vogue intern was wearing black nail polish in one photo and red in the other. Strange? We thought so too.
After Perez raised his concerns, other gossip sites like TMZ.com started dissecting even further. TMZ showed a completely different setup scene - this one involving Heidi and Spencer. Photographers caught the show taping two scenes in a matter of a few minutes - but aired them as days apart. Still following? Wait...there's more.
As though that's not enough proof that the show is completely bogus...we've heard exclusively from a guest on the show that the rumors are true.
On this week's episode, Lauren went on a date with male model, Gavin Beasly and, let's just say, Gavin was not tight-lipped about his experience after filming the show.
Gavin sat down with his childhood friend (and journalist from BestWeekEver.tv) and opened up about how many scenes are enhanced - to make everything seem more interesting than it really is.
According to Gavin, "they [the producers] totally set up the BBQ scene for Brody and I to meet each other and talk because, as they said, "the audience would get a kick out of seeing ‘the ex' talking to ‘the new guy'. Brody would talk all this sh*t, then be like, 'Sorry about that, we're just trying to make good television.'"
Reality TV? Looks more like a Reality Sham to me.
Do you think the show is staged?
